Senior Warehouse and Logistics Manager

 

 

Summary:  

The Senior Warehouse and Logistics Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the operational efficiency of the organization. The Senior Warehouse and Logistics Manager’s responsibilities include managing multiple warehouses and offices, as well as a growing logistics delivery team. The goal of the Senior Warehouse and Logistics Manager is to ensure seamless operations, improve processes, and contribute to the overall success of the company.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in logistics and/or warehouse management
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), logistics software, and inventory management systems
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and compliance in warehouse and transportation operations
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field not required but a plus

 

Responsibilities:  

 

Team Leadership:

  • Build and lead a high-performing operations team through effective communication and motivation
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation within the Warehouse and Logistics team

 

Warehouse Management:

  • Supervise and coordinate activities in multiple warehouses (appx. 40,000 sq ft) to ensure efficient storage, handling, and distribution of goods
  • Implement technology strategy to reduce duplication of efforts and increase efficiency
  • Implement best practices to optimize warehouse space utilization and inventory management.
  • Use expertise to develop new processes in both new and existing facilities
  • Oversee shipping and receiving operations to meet customer demands
  • Communicate with customers (internal and external) regularly to address issues, problems, and concerns.
  • Oversee tool and calibration and management making sure that tools are in good working condition, kept on a calibration schedule, and deployed to appropriate teams in a timely fashion
  • Implement efficient workflows and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance overall efficiency
  • Oversee regular cycle counts as well as regular audits of receiving and shipping processes.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve operational performance
  • Participate in TL/ISO certification audits (internal and external).

 

Logistics and Delivery Management:

  • Lead and mentor a growing logistics delivery team, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries
  • Work to expand logistics team services and reduce reliance on 3PL’s
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the performance and productivity of the delivery team
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline delivery processes and meet customer expectations
  • Optimize route planning to improve fuel efficiency and reduce transportation costs
  • Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with transportation laws and regulations

 

Office Management:

  • Manage and maintain 4,000 sq ft of office space, ensuring a conducive and organized work environment
  • Collaborate with facility management to address any office space-related issues
  • Implement space utilization strategies to support the evolving needs of the organization

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to apply principles of logic and business thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Ability to formulate problems and solutions and present to both the executive group and affected employees in an effective manner working in a team environment. Good communication skills are a prerequisite

 

Physical Demands:

  • The employee will be required to use their hands 90% of the time to type, write, handle paperwork, or handle warehouse equipment
  • The employee will be coordinating activities, managing schedules, and overseeing logistics may require physical coordination to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of tasks
  • Depending on the nature of the warehouse operations, the employee may need to operate machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment. This may require physical agility and coordination
  • The employee will be sitting at a desk 50% of the time while walking between offices, warehouses, and other work areas from time to time
  • The employee may, occasionally, be required to lift weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) is generally required, as the employee will be working at a computer and working with files & paperwork

 

Work Environment:

  • Majority of typical workday is spent in a warehouse
  • Time may also be spent meeting with employees and management in an office
  • Warehouse temperatures are variable and often uncontrolled unless the product being stored requires the maintenance of a specific temperature
  • Conditions in the warehouse can be dangerous, as tasks involve the operation of material handling equipment
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
